Created to shed some light on the design work that went into Sakura Taisen 2, this 152 page book is roughly split 50/50 between colour pages filled with illustrations and interviews with a wide range of staff members.
The colour section starts off with a thorough look over each individual member of the Hana Gumi, showing both final coloured works as well as design roughs and notes. Later sections go on to cover support/side characters with less detail but still including otherwise unseen rough sketches and notes.
This then gives way to the animation/CG section, which goes over a few important scenes in the game and compares stills of the final sequences with their storyboard equivalent, again with notes. The CG section focuses on the battle sections, showing close ups of enemies and allies, as well as notes and again more design sketches.
The last half is devoted to interviews – the VA portions are actually quite short, with more space given over to the producer, programmer, designer, composer, etc.
Finally there are instructions on how to turn the two large pull out sheets of printed colour card at the very end into a 3D replica of Grand Imperial Theatre that serves as the central location in the game.
